Jesus told us, “Don’t worry about what you’re going to eat or wear, or where you’re going to sleep. My father will take care of you. He cares about you more than the bird or flowers; so he’ll take care of you and your needs. If you make him and his kingdom pre-eminent in your life, you’ll get him and his kingdom. And all these other concerns will be given to you in addition.”
In my support-raising efforts I’ve been alternating my focus between the spiritual calling of my work, and the practical need for money in order to accomplish it. But actually there is another way of looking at it. I’m asking for food and clothing and the place to stay that I’ll need in England when I spend my energies putting God’s kingdom first every day (the work I’m called to).
If then these verses in Matthew don’t apply to my situation, they probably don’t apply to any situation. So, as my friend Brenda recently reminded me, I should be claiming this promise of God, and through it bolstering my faith.
